POLA ASUH KELUARGA TERHADAP PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER LAKI-LAKI DI MAKASSAR
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of family parenting patterns on the formation of patriarchal male character in the 20–30 age group in Makassar City. Patriarchy, as a social system that prioritizes male dominance, is still deeply embedded in local culture and is considered to contribute to shaping men's perspectives and behavior. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method and involved 52 male respondents selected through purposive sampling. The instrument consisted of 19 parenting pattern items and 19 patriarchal character items measured using a Likert scale. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the respondents' patriarchal character was in the high category, while their parenting patterns were in the medium to high category. However, the results of a simple regression test showed that family parenting patterns did not have a significant effect on the formation of patriarchal character (p = 0.238) with a very small contribution to determination (R² = 0.028). This indicates that patriarchal character is more influenced by external factors such as culture, social environment, education, and media. These findings confirm that the formation of patriarchal values is a complex process that is not solely determined by family parenting.
